All those on the 28th count down with me...

6 more sleeps!!!

I will most likely be the first in and first out as I am in Australia. What is the best advice you have been given through these forums?

Was suggested to take comfortable, easy to put on slippers and Chapstick. Any other good recommendations?

I would say tooth brush, tooth paste, socks, chap stick, big night gown ( so that it want stick to you), hair brush and comb ( depending on how you do your hair), your breathing machine, your own toiletries.

Why earplugs?

It can be quite noisy. In my hospital, they have single rooms, but my closest neighbor must have been hard of hearing because her TV was quite loud. Plus, often my door was left ajar and I could hear hallway conversations.

Wow I would not have thought of the eqr plugs. But I will bring a pair just in case. At my hospital we have private rooms.

Move around! Burp as much as you can/need to! It will get stuck and hurt more in certain places, left side is the worst! The only way for it to move, is for you to move! Walk! & let it out however you have to! :) it took over a week for mine to finally clear out!

A week... That does not sound like fun! Will make sure I get on the move right away. Thanks

Last day of work is done. Boss is a nosey parker. Managed to squirm out of there without revealing too much. Sigh! Not back till 11//12. Hope it's enough.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
