I will have finished my nutrition classes and see the surgeon next month but he doesn't operate in December. So I am hoping for January.

Hello Brandi. I too am hoping to have my surgery in January. I just went to 1st psych eval and I have to see the nutritionist 3 times 1 more time at psych and then back to surgeon to schedule surgery. How is your process going?

Hi Stephanie! I think I am doing pretty good. I figure I will do all testing (pshyc eval, etc) once I meet with the surgeon later next month. Yay for 2014! How do you think you are doing?

Great. my process is a little different because it is being done through the military. I am hoping for early January myself. I am so excited. Are you getting RNY for sure or are still deciding?

I am hoping to get my surgery by the end of December or beginning of January. I went to the seminar October 9 and completed the package. According to the call I made to my insurance company, I don't have to do any monitored diet, so that is a big plus!! I have to attend 2 support group meetings, and get the phys eval. But I think that's it. Oh and no preop diet either. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi, I am hoping to have surgery before then end of the year. Have completed 3 months of medical weight management and psych eval, chosen a surgeon, completed blood work, verified insurance but now waiting on insurance approval. I still have to attend per-op education and trying to learn as much as I can, especially about the realities of post-op transition.

I also hope to have my surgery the end of January. I am going to start my 3 month diet on the 30th officially but actually going to start it on Monday. Going to do two Atkins Protein Shakes a day and one meal. I am a type 2 diabetic that is going through a huge amount of stress which has caused my glucose levels to be through the roof. I can't control them and the increased levels of insulin have caused me to gain 10 pounds in the last month. On top of that I am constantly hungry. I have decided that I am going to do the diet and to relieve my hunger I am just going to have to get over it by drinking Water. I hate feeling the way I have been feeling lately. My first appointments with the endocrinologist, nutritionist and psych are in a week and a half; Wednesday and Thursday (30th & 31st) so I have plenty of time to get used to my diet before I go. Now, watch, the nutritionist will put me on something completely different. I will be giving up soda as soon as I have drunken the last of my case of diet Dr. Pepper. I am going to the mayo Clinic which is five hours from home, but I promised my husband if he supported me in this journey that I would go to the best place possible to get it done. He is terrified that something might happen to me and he would lose me. Sorry to go on and on but thought I would just put it all out there now best way to get to know our fellow journey members.

I feel like the pre-op education is super important because it clears up questions and like you said learn all the realities!! Good luck!!

I have delayed my surgery until January because I am going on a cruise with my adult children for Christmas. I am very nervous as I am being converted from a sleeve to RNY.

Looks like Jan for me, too, unless I get super lucky. I don't know what my doc does around the holidays. I will have all my insurance hoops jumped through on Dec 13. She already approved me for surgery but I am sure she'll have to see me again before she gives me an appointment for surgery -- so it looks like Jan -- she said Jan when I saw her in September. Heck, her spots in Jan might be filled by Dec 13 and they won't give me an appointment with her until they confirm that I went to that Dec 13th final primary care doc visit (3 months in a row).

I'm ready. Altho reading about complication nightmares has me anxious.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
