I'm only 3 days behind you. I really should be starting my pre op on the 26th. Also, I never quit smoking. Good for you, From your picture, you look like you may have youth on your side,

Thermo,

you HAVE to quit smoking NOW. It puts you at very high risk with the surgery and complicates your recovery. Your doctor may even delay the surgery until you quit. Don't fib about it either because you anesthesiologist has to know the truth to keep you safe.

This would be a good time to do some reading on transfer addiction (cigs to food and vice versa) as well, both on this forum and on the web. You've got some challenges ahead and it will help if you're prepared.

Good luck.

Thermo, yes I do know how hard it is. But after 14 years of smoking, including a bad patch of 3 to 4 packs a day, I quit in 5 weeks and never looked back. That was decades ago. I used the Smokenders program.

Thank you Trucker and Turn. I will do my best. My doctor (another country) has requested that I at least cut down. I will do my best. That's all I can do.

Congratulations! My surgery is November 5th, too! My pre-op appt is this Thursday and I'll begin the liquid diet after that.

I've never been a smoker, so I didn't have to give up cigarettes - but I did have to give up diet soda. It's been 3 weeks since I've had a "drink". :D
