I Hate You McDonalds

Recommended Posts

I am 15 months out from surgery and have only dumped a handful of times. Usually when it's my fault and I have eaten something with sugar and too much of it. Like in a moment of weakness, I ate a whole donut once over the course of an hour and a half on an empty stomach. Won't make that mistake again! Otherwise, not a dumper if I eat sugar in very small quantities with other food (e.g. 1/8 of a donut after I eat my Protein and veggies w/ no carb meal). I've lost 163 lbs and am maintaining at 138 for 4 months now from 301 so I'm pretty happy.

So anyway, as an occasional treat, I get the sugar free vanilla lattes from McDonalds. I even double check every time and ask if it's sugar free. Well, I guess today it wasn't and I didn't notice. Driving to Disney World with toddler in backseat. Start to dump. Pull over to dry heave for 10 minutes then stomach cramps start. Barely found gas station in time.

Why, oh why, can't I tell the difference in sugar free anymore? And why can't the McDonalds people get it right?

I totally dump from wine. I have no idea y, but I can live without it. It's weird that we still dump so far out.

OMG. I love, love, love McDonald's sf iced tea. I am a diabetic. I usually check before I leave the window, sometimes I forget. Pull away and darn, it's sweet tea. Kills me. I guess McDonald's gets what they pay for. Funny thing is, I can't even get a job at McDonalds.

Good heavens! Wine? I hope I don't dump on that when I try it next year. I like my Saturday night glass of wine!

Wine has lots of sugar alcohol so it can certainly cause you to dump.

I have no problem with mcdonalds if they get my sf nonfat vanilla latte right, but if not I'm the same way! Sick! Today I actually went to a real little coffee cafe and asked for a sugar free white chocolate mocha with nonfat milk. She made it just the way I asked because I watched her do it. And to my surprise....I got soooooooooo sleepy and my heart was racing and I felt dizzy!! Good thing my hubby was driving because I fell asleep...I'm talking knocked out deep sleep about 10 minutes from home and felt sooooo bad afterwards. So I dumped on my delicious coffee! :( it's something how certain places and certain sugar free things work and other times they do not! I won't get one of those again! So glad my husband was there or I could've passed out driving!!!!! ???? I'm 2 years out and there's things that may work more than once and I try it again and get sick and super sleepy. It's an ever learning process for sure! Good luck to you! ;)

Well, I'll just have to wait and see. It's not the end of the world if I can't have it. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
