Hello Karlee! I can't wait to get to the stage you are at (not banded yet), congratulations to you on getting your band!

I see you posted this thread in the food section. Just above where it populated on this forum are two sticky threads about just this question. Here are the links:

I just finished mushies. Some of my favs are apple sauce, yogurt, baked Beans that have been blended slightly in the magic bullet, and thicker Soups.

Refried Beans. Add Water or sour cream if you want them thinner. Very moist "meat salads" (tuna salad, chicken salad...). Cottage cheese. Applesauce. Yogurt. "Cream of" Soups. eggs. Egg salad. Tofu. Mashed potatoes. Quiche.

*LUNCH/DINNER-Baked ricotta-Marinara sauce-shredded motzarella sprinkled on top

*LUNCH/DINNER-Parm flavor Cocous mixed with cream spinach

*BREAKFAST-Instant grits mixed with vanilla flavor granola (it will soften up)

*SNACK-2 scoops frozen vanilla yogurt with flat diet birch beer soda poured on top

*LUNCH/DINNER-Taco Bell Mexican pizza....open up and eat the inside only...yum

*LUNCH/DINNER-Chinese take out.....chicken rice Soup...the rice is really mushy

*ANY MEAL-at IHOP...spinach + mushroom omlette with holindaise sauce

on top

I was ok'd to start solids next Thursday....but I've been eating well and haven't felt deprived. I've lost 24 pounds since Feb 1'st. Chew well and take small spoon fulls at a time.

Be creative...see what you can come up with.

One of my favorites when I was in a hurry, was Wendy's chili, only I had to run home and blend it .. I used a baby grinder for Soups, stews , during the mushy phase and it worked well for me, Of course I only got the 99 cent chili. I also made some high Protein stew recipes given to me during one of my support groups and i would freeze leftovers, then thaw and blend.

Good Luck!

Wendy's chilli is a life saver. I find it funny now that my meals at Wendy's cost $1.39 (small chilli in Canada) opposed to the $8-$9 I used to spend.

I became somewhat of a chilli connoisseur on my mushies stage.

My fave at that stage was a lipton cup-a-soup (tomato with croutons) with 1/2 cup cottage cheese blended in. Thick and yummy.

Refried black Beans with enchilada sauce blended in with a little fat free cheese melted on top is yumm-o as well.

So I had surgery on Feb 22nd, about 3 and a half weeks ago, and I'm already eating hamburger, chicken, pork, not ground up, but actual chunks. It's going down pretty easy and I feel like I could eat a lot more than I am eating. I'm trying to keep it under 1 cup of food per meal, but I feel like I could eat a lot more. I've had chinese food, enchiladas, chili, crab and shrimp, etc., all not blended. Should I not be eating these things? I haven't had any pain, and it all seems to go down really easy. Please let me know if this is really bad!! Thanks!!

My doctor said liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies, which could include finely minced chicken, any fish, very well cooked veggies mashed up, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc. But I'm able to eat almost anything with no problems. Last night I had chinese food, sweet and sour pork, sesame chicken, and garlic green Beans, it all went down with no problems. Could this be damaging my band, or if I'm feeling no pain at all is it ok? I don't want to be doing any damage to it, but I'm having a very hard time sticking to mushy stuff. I'm trying to chew it all really well. Also, I'm eating Lean Cuisines a lot too, do you think that's ok?

I agree with bubblebut. Follow your prescribed diet to the letter. I was told by my doctor that overeating as you describe could ultimately stretch your new pouch or even develop a hiatal hernia. Be really careful. Remember Portion Control. You should be putting maybe a cup of food down in an hour, well chewed. Stay away from the carbs, fried and breaded stuff. Stick with protien, fresh veggies and fruits. You'll find that the protien will keep you full and you won't have sugar spikes from eating the carbs.

Take care of yourself and your body will love you for it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
