monola 19 Posted October 9, 2013 I recently read that you should eat solid foods over purée foods because being solid will fill you up more. However, aren't we supposed to chew our food close to a puréed stage before we swallow? So does it really matter in the long run whether it started as solid or purée? erikaloftin 62 Posted October 9, 2013 It has to do with the digestion that occurs in your mouth. The more you chew it, the more your saliva will break it down. If its puree'd, that doesn't happen.

As a personal choice and not approved and discussed with my surgeon, I skipped the puréed stage and went straight to soft foods. I'm glad everything was fine for you, but that's not great advise to give to people. Always ALWAYS encourage people to listen to their own doctor. many doctors have many different opinions, but I'd never suggest straying from what the Dr says. 1 melhealthy reacted to this
