I had my surgery at the downtown campus on April 5th with Dr. Rogula. I hate hospitals and doctors lol but everyone there were so professional and kind that it was a wonderful experience for sure. My doc also did the surgery with the Davinci robot which gave me much faster healing time. I would be more then happy to answer any questions for you. They were great!

Surgery was friday morning and was out on monday morning. I would have been out on sunday but my intestines were swollen so I couldnt poop lol. Very common but once I started going I was able to start drinking Water and popsicle. Walk walk walk! I got up the night of surgery and walked the halls for a while. Everybody there was great. The only annoyance was the people with the sleep apnea machine..I didnt want to wear it cause it sucked bad lol...if you have any specific questions feel free to ask

Pre-op was boring - bring a book! I saw the medical doctor, the anesthesiologist, the surgeon and got my blood taken. I was also sent to the pulmonologist for a lung function test the next day. Basically just lots of questions. Nothing too bad at all. It's just your final clearance before surgery.

And I know, small world! Everyone on the unit was great in terms of being taken care of.

I'm doing well! Walking and such. Getting bored being at home though lol. Not too much pain, just a little soreness.

I am having my surgery at University Hospital Parma in August. My mom had her surgery at Cleveland Clinic about 3 years ago. She is doing good and has lost a lot of weight. I decided on Parma because I didn;t want to have all of my appointments and required meetings downtown. I just don't like going to the main campus of wither Cleveland Clinic or University hospitals. Now that Parma hospital is part of the University system it really was the best decision for me.

I do know the rusian or eastern european nurse on the bariartic floor at the Cleveland Clinic is very nice. She will take good care of you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
