sadfat1962 11 Posted November 7, 2013 Regarding blood work/labs.. Does anyone know what our ideal number should be as VSG patients? I feel so left in the dark about my health every since my surgery, no matter which doctor I see, nobody explains anything! My Protein number is 6... Low, high?!!! Any help is appreciated!! Thank you! PdxMan 4,292 Posted November 8, 2013 When you get your bloodwork results, they usually also have an acceptable range listed over on the right hand side. If yours does not and you need some additional information, your best bet is to call your Dr office and have them review the results. Reading just one number doesn't give you the whole picture. For instance, having your red blood cell count be on the low side had more meaning if your Iron levels are normal or high. Bottom line, to look at the results of labs requires a full picture, not just one number. I always have an in person follow-up with my PCP following blood work. They don't change me for it as it is seen as a follow-up from the original blood work screen orders.
