I had a follow-up appointment with my doctor and NUT today. I am 3 months post op. my NUT said I can expect my weight loss to slow down now that I've hit the 3 month mark and could expect 1 pound a week or so. She said most sleeves reach their goal in 18-24 months. If I only lose a pound a week or so, I'll be a whole lot longer than that. Anybody else been told that or find this is true?

Sounds like BS to me. 1 pound a week? I could have done that without the sleeve.

I was told it's not unusual to lose 1-2 pounds per week. That's about 8 pounds a month. Maybe 10 if you stretch it. That's healthy. And realistic. Some lose more. Some lose less. It's how you use your tool. I'm doing about 2 pounds/week now at 6 months and I'm ok with that. I'm also living and enjoying life. I have just 20 pounds or so to lose. I should be there in January!

Laura-ven, I have another 200 pounds to lose though. I just don't see how it's possible to lose that in the next 18-24 months.

Just my two cents, but weight loss varies so much person to person. Since I only lose 2 lbs. a week at my best, that future is not unlikely for me (at 3 months in a week). But if I were 30 years younger and/or a guy, I think it probably wouldn't be so. Don't get discouraged.

I know, it's a perspective huh? Well in that case look at what your nut is saying, I bet she is giving you average numbers... You don't have to be average. Aspire higher!

I guess what I'm saying is don't let her numbers derail you.

I am at 6 months tomorrow and since my sleeve surgery (I am a band revision) I have lost 68 pounds. And I have had a major setback and not been able to work out at all, due to tearing a rotator cuff.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
