What are the best low sugar, high protein bars that actually taste good?

Recommended Posts

I will have to try the Quest bars. Atkins Peanut Butter Fudge Crunch Bar (Day Break) is not bad. It is 150 cal, Sugar Alchol 5%, Sugar 1g, Protein 10g and total net carbs 2

Power Crunch bars are my favorite, Peanut Butter is awesome but all are good. Low in sugar but taste like a wafer cookie :)

I am also a fan of Quest Bars. My favorites have been chocolate chip cookie dough, cashew and coconut and cinnamon roll. They do have a sampler pack that will give you a good range of different bars to try. I ordered them direct on the web.

I bought 4 different Quest bars and hated all of them. Oh yeah! Bars have been the best to me, the Carmel chocolate nut ones, tried the Peanut Butter choc ones and hated them. Before surgery loved anything peanut butter , not so much now. Good luck, I hope you find one you and your taste buds can agree on.

I like Atkins bars. No sugar and high in Protein. Very low in sugar alcohols.

Right now I am eating 1 Atkins chocolate oatmeal Fiber bar every day. It has 10 grams of Fiber, 6 grams of protein. Most Atkins bars have 10-15 grams of protein, but right now I need the fiber.

Started pre-op today. I'm one of the lucky ones...

Breakfast, Protein Shake or bar, 1/2 c fruiit

snack, 1/2 c fruit

lunch, same as breakfast

Snack, 1/2 c fruit

dinner, 3 oz meat, green vegetable, 2 sliced low cal bread

Snack, 1/2c fruit

Also, I have a list of green vegetable that I can eat at anytime

I just had a Prue Protein bar...chocolate chip..for breakfast. OMG, I felt like I was cheating. It was very good! This was my first Protein Bar ever, so there may be better ones out there,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
