luckyyou0521 42 Posted November 6, 2013 Is anyone else tired of waiting at appointments and going to them in general? For 7 months it feels like at least once a week I've had an appointment and been poked and have had blood work. They ask the same exact questions (I know they have to) but I know it's worth it I guess I just need someone else yo tell me it is.
Bob624 14 Posted November 6, 2013 You are doing it partially to prepare you for the changes ahead and mostly to satisfy the insurance companies. For instance, prior to this surgery I went through a medically supervised weight loss program three years prior with the same medical group. Multiple nutrition and exercise classes, eight months oversight for weight management with a MD. When I come back, have to go through all the same hoops again and they require 6 months of doctor's visits, with my same doctor. It can be frustrating at times. kmbrcvzs 23 Posted November 6, 2013 My story is much like Bob 624, it took 10 months of hell to get approved for VSG. They really make you work for it and prove you are ready for the changes in your life. Don't get discouraged it will be so worth it in the end.
Photo925 100 Posted November 6, 2013 My insurance company told us outright that the process to have the surgery was on average a nine month process. I know some insurance companies go fast and others slower...but I'd say many of us go through the same thing. I start my 6 months of weekly classes through Kaiser tomorrow...I'm just glad they are finally starting...it too almost two months to get this far. I'm hoping the holidays coming up will make it seem like time is going by faster
caroline2 89 Posted November 6, 2013 Good luck everyone. My process from first informational seminar to surgery date (in two weeks!!!!!) was about 8 months. Very emotional times. I've always said you have to work very hard if you want this surgery! Insurance company (Cigna) made me jump through lots of hoops! Hang in there, seems like it takes forever, but your time will be here soon!
