Does anyone else have issues kicking the sweets? 1 year post op and the cravings for sweets are awful?

It's been the toughest thing for me. Especially chocolate. The big 3 for me were chips, sodas and chocolate. Well chips and sodas are kicked no problem. Chocolate is still killing me. I often wonder if it's because I drink chocolate Protein shakes.....like that continued enjoyment of chocolate keeps the desire alive.

I'm only a lil over 2 months out but sugar is not something I tolerate all that well anymore...too much makes me nauseated, but give me something salty and OMG! And this is a total reversal from before surgery

Yeah it's so hard. All sweets are taking over. I feel like I need to do a sugar detox.

Try candida , sugar builds up a yeast in your blood stream that keeps cravings alive! Candida is a great way to help eliminate the sweet cravings and it cleanses you! Good stuff!!

I recently read the book Wheatbelly by Dr. William Davis. He says that wheat is the root of all evil! He claims that there is something in wheat called Gliadin which affects our brain (!) causing us to crave and eat more simple carbs. (In a nutshell). He says that the wheat we eat today bears little resemblance to the wheat of thousands or even hundreds of years ago. People who go off wheat lose their cravings.

I have a sleeved friend who has been wheat free since her surgery and she has no cravings whatsoever. I would like to go wheat free but am having trouble getting there....Meanwhile I've been using spelt flour but that's also a problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
