My PA who had RNY 6 years ago, said that her skin today looks much better than it did even 3 years ago. So there's hope. And in the meantime, I created this to remind myself to be happy. for-every-woman-unhappy.png

My wife took a pic of me yesterday. I had on a shirt that I could not wear for many years. It was tucked in and I had on a pair of jeans that were too big for me. I was a 50 before surgery and I wear a 40 now and the pants were 42's. So my belly looks even worse. I think I need to leave the shirt tail out for awhile until I hope the jiggly belly subsides.

You'll get there I'm sure. My husband is now able to tuck his shirt in first thing in the morning--and it stays that way all day. He can't stop marveling at that.

Jiggly barely describes it. I have lost 70 pounds, am down several sizes. I can't really see the difference and feel fatter than before the surgery. My jello-ness and excess skin is daunting. This surgery is the best thing I have ever done and I regret not doing it sooner, but I wonder how long it will take to feel freer of the fat. I still am 30 or so pounds from goal .

That was a huge one for me too. I don't know if women get this....but I never felt good about tucking in my shirt. I thought I looked awful....plus of course when I sat down everything expanded and the shirt would pull out. Now I wanna tuck in my shirt everyday. Whether I should or not.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
