Lowest loser EVER? GRRRR....

Recommended Posts

20 LBS IN 6 WEEKS.

I'm getting upset. I have my 6 week checkup on thursday and I think they are going to be mad. I havent been that great about getting all my Protein or Water in on most days but close. I also dont eat very much.. could that be the reason? do I need to eat more?

I have a hard time finding things to eat around the house. I need to go shopping.

sorrry, I am just ranting ....

Yep, you may need to up your intake. I have read that time and again on here. I am only two weeks out and have struggled to get in enough daily. But I keep trying to increase it daily because I KNOW my loss will be greater if I hit the target range rather than fall below. Your body holds on for dear life if it feels starved. So making sure your not going to that extreme is important. So get to the grocery and be creative to be sure you stay on track...Good luck!

I like it when folks answer their own questions. You brought up some possibilities. Exercise?

The check up folks will no doubt have ideas. Actually, your 20 pound loss is not all that bad. I've been on 6 week diets that did worse. Many of them. Also remember, that is 20 pounds that is quite unlikely to come back.

Like a friend of mine used to say, "I've lost 80 pounds this year.....it was the same 10 pounds over and over.."

I'm really confused now! How come OP needs to up her intake? How is this different from a "stall"?

Op, if you are close to getting the right amount of water and protein, perhaps you're doing everything right! No one will be mad at you, surely they will be proud of your hard work!

longtime, increasing your calories will shake things up for your body. Let's take me, for example. Pre-sleeve, I was consuming probably 4,000 calories a day. Now, post surgery, I was getting in maybe 600 calories a day.

What was my body thinking?

OMG! We must be abandoned on a desert island somewhere!!! We need to conserve energy, slow down our metabolism because we are not getting the calories we once were!!

So, we throw the dog a bone by increasing calories a bit. How does the body respond?

OK, we're off the island, resume metabolism.

Girl #1 I'm the slowest loser ever!!

#2 get up go shopping get that Protein in and water.. Water when I don't push it I don't lose plain and simple :)

Me too. Water is Directly related to loss.

PS, you are losing faster than me!

Ok so for all the vets out here, one ??

Do you count Soup broths towards Water intake in they are not your main source of Protein? I have my 3 Protein Shakes a day but am not able to down a bottle of smart water, but i do have 3 cops of broths and a couple of ice pops.

I'm glad you got your vent on and I hope you feel better.

Get your Protein and Water. You're only hurting yourself by not pushing those two things.

And your results? That's more than three pounds a week! Twelve pounds a month! It might be slower than you'd like, but that doesn't make you a slow loser.

Did you do a pre-op diet? If you did, that loss gets counted in to your total loss. And even if you didn't, three pounds a week is nothing to sneeze at, especially if you can maintain that rate of loss.

You might need more calories than some, and if you're skipping meals or not hitting goals you certainly need more than you're getting now. But regardless, if you're not pushing your protein and water, you're going to struggle. So focus on that first and relax about the weight. It will come off with time.

Umm, six weeks is 42 days. You're averaging almost half a pound a day! When did you ever lose half a pound a day, every day, for 42 straight days?!? And you're not gaining it back?? My my my, those are some impressive losses, keep it up!

PS. I was sleeved over a year ago. You want to talk about a slow loser? I'm a slow loser. But guess what, I may be going at a snail's pace, but I'm still losing. That's what matters, not how fast it goes. I figure the slower it comes off, the more likely it stays off :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
