Heart burn after plastics

Recommended Posts

Had a Tummy Tuck today, Lipo of the flanks and a breast lift w implant. The worst part is the heartburn!! I have taken my prescription heartburn med and nothing. I have taken easily 20 tums and barely any relief. Now I took another heartburn pill and I'm hoping for this to work. Anyone know why? I have only had applesauce, canned peaches and crackers. Should I call the doc?

I have been lucky with not much reflux, but I have never had a big problem with it. There are two reasons for it though. One, your abdomen is VERY tight and it limits how much your stomach can stretch as well as the compression from your garments or binder do the same. The fruit may not help either due to the acidity. Hope this helps.

The funny part is the doc gave me the fruit haha. Guess not too smart. I never thought I would be complaining about heartburn over everything else but everything else is definitely manageable

I had to go back on my omeprazle for a few days. I think it was caused by the super tight compressin garments. It also helped to not lay down, I was very propped up = at first by the hospital bed and then later by pillows.

I had my TT yesterday and for the last couple hours I have had bad acid reflux. The nurse gave me something for it and it is almost gone now. funny how we just had our guts and fat taken out but the heartburn is what brothers us!!! I believe my culprit was 2 boxes of Apple juice.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
