luvthecardinals 5 Posted November 4, 2013 Hello All! Help me please!!! I was sleeved on 8/6, I am doing well but having issues getting my Protein and Water in. My bigger issue which I know is related to the food is lack of exercise due to lack of energy. I go, go, go all day and evening. From work, to kids, to selling my house I am never sitting still but I have still not made time for planned exercise. Its turning cold here in Iowa and its dark early and my motivation is at a stand still....so is my weight, I have lost about 34 pounds, but its all coming off very slowly. I would like to know what others did to start exercising. What activities, how often and how long. Any other advice is appreciated as well. Thanks!!
spunkyirishpunk 29 Posted November 4, 2013 I got a fitbit for myself and do 10,000 steps a day at minimum. I also do weight training for 30-45 mins 4 days a week, 3 days a week I run for 30 mins. The easiest thing is to carve out some time somehow, treat it like an appointment you make with yourself everyday.
gamergirl 4,610 Posted November 5, 2013 If you're just starting out,I would set a very modest goal for yourself. If you can afford it get a fitbit or a simple pedometer. I found those very very motivating. I started wearing a pedometer years ago and discovered how little I was walking. It was horrifying! I knew we were supposed to walk 10,000 steps but I wasn't even getting in 1,000. So I set my goal to 500, then 1000, etc and worked my way up to 10,000 which is 4 miles. I literally would go out to my car in the parking lot for nothing--because that added 250 steps to my pedometer It becomes a fun game and you're only competing against yourself so there's no outside pressure. Oh and going to the bathroom at work? 125 steps But if I had set the goal at 4 miles initially I would have failed. If you're already running around all day, why not get some credit for it, right? No one says exercise has to be at a gym. Log your steps, log the house cleaning into MFP, log the cooking into it. Once you see what you're already doing, then increasing that is easy. Good luck! shedevil 23 Posted November 5, 2013 Try planning. I haven't done it myself yet but it is supposed to help a lot of body parts firm up. And walk around your house. My dog thinks I am nuts when I walk in place. She barks at me.
