Surgery tomorrow! Freaking out

Recommended Posts

I'm not overly concerned with the actual surgery but i started my liquid diet Friday and have cheated a little every day. Yesterday I cheated a lot. Half a Breakfast sandwich, a bag of cashews and a bunch of popcorn. I'm so nervous even though my liver isn't fatty anyways. Whoever thought of this clear liquid diet has obviously never been on one. 23 more hours!!!!

Good luck to all of you this week! It is a very nervous and exciting time! Remember to ask for the flavored sponges they will hydrate your lips and mouth after surgery. They are a life saver!! :)

Good luck everyone on your surgeries coming up this week and the beginning of your new life journey. Flavored sponges? I had no idea there was such a thing. I think my hospital staff may have been holding out on me.

It is my one tip I give out to all presleevers about to have their surgery. I can't tell you how much they helped me!

from what I've heard, flavored sponges are a lifesaver after surgery. I'm pretty sure I had them when I was banded. 13 hours from now, I will hopefully be happily sucking away on one until they allow me some broth or Jello

Hello all, I'm still up and my surgery is literally less than 6 hours away, I think I've done everything, said goodbye to all the yummy Snacks and the pepsi cola. Dang it was a bitter sweet moment. Well wishing all the November sleevers a happy healing

24 hrs post op. Sore but walking. Definitely used lemon glycerin swabs. Extremely dry mouth. All smiles though. Good luck to everyone and don't over do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
