Hey guys I'm just bout a week out since my sleeve surgery as far as pain wise I'm doing great didn't really start to feel hungry till yesterday n boy was that a rough morning. This liquid stage is def not for me n kinda not looking forward to the next stage either. I knew it would be tough n Idc what anyone says u can prepare yourself mentally as much as possible pre op but once your post op the shock alone is enough to bring you down. Just really going through it n since I can't be active 24/7 in my down time I just beat myself up mentally n that is starting to put a strain on my personal life. Just hoping it gets better thanx for giving me a outlet to vent a bit.

Hey dad,

Yep that first week sucks! No getting around it..

I was just shuffling around the house and block, but that's about it. Are you on a ppi? The reflux will give you a sour rumbly hunger feeling sometimes.. But sometimes we do just get plain old hungry too :)

Be nice to yourself and give it time. You just had major surgery. Honestly? I didn't feel back to "normal" for about a month.

Hi dad,

Laura is right, get on a strong PPI like Prilosec or take ranitidine (I take both), it helps immensely. I would go far as to say the whole first month sucks and nothing really prepares you for it, no matter how much you read ahead of time. But, it does get better! In another month you will be on here sympathizing with new sleevers, too. Just search the forums for any issues that come up and you'll be sure to find answers. Good luck!

This whole process feels like that moment when you're about to jump into a lake and you know it's going to be cold. Just psyching yourself up to jump is in some ways the hardest part.

Before this turns into a long, drawn-out metaphor about treading Water and drowning and swimming and all those good things…I hope as you feel physically better you'll feel mentally better about it.

I'm still cooking for my family and because I love to cook, and try new recipes I know that at different points I will have some resentment about this. I'm just hoping that I can re-channel my interest positively.

Hang in there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
