Frustrated with the stall

Recommended Posts

A normal weight loss pattern is not a sloping line. It actually looks more like stair steps. So there's really no such thing as a stall, you're just on a stair. Hang in there.

I like that it is so true. It makes sense.

Stalls are part of losing weight. I have had several stalls in my journey. It has been 14 months ago since I had the surgery and I have had at least 5 times a stall and the longest lasted 6 weeks. I think my body was testing me.

Thanks so much to lipstick girl and NancyG and others talking abt long stalls around month 4! I have been about to decide I've gotten everything I'm going to get at month 4. My stall started during month two, although I lost a few lbs durning the past month or so. I'm amazed that I can eat less than 1000 calories a day and abt 50 carbs and still not lose. It seems mathematically impossible. Hearing from you ladies helps to fight the discouragement.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I haven't lost a pound in three weeks and I'm doing everything I was doing when I was losing. I'm 8 months out and closer to goal so of course I knew it would slow but it hasn't moved at all. But I love the stair step analogy! On the other hand I just went shopping and went down a size so that made me feel better. But honestly reading this thread reassured me. I keep worrying that I am done losing weight and this thread gave me hope.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
