Hospital Stay ...

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering about the PAIN LEVEL ,and HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE / STAY !!

So the last time I spent the night in the hospital was the day I had my son (almost two years ago , and I had a miscarriage at 5 months). Is the PAIN anything like a labor pain or is it worse??

Honestly I'm not even scared for the surgery I think that I'm scared to maybe relive that experience.. I am definitely a work in progress when it comes to my baby boy but I know that he is in a better place.

I think labor is probably worse.Don't fret about the post op pain..the nurses and staff will help you manage it. The first night, they gave me a morphine drip and said use it when you need to..you can't overdose. By the second day, I may have used it twice and by the time I came home, I was on Tylenol. Good luck with your journey.

Labor pain is worse.

Well I guess I have nothing to worry about because that had to be the WORST pain ever !!

That's good to know because my pain tolerance is very low !! Like if it hurts to much I start to vomit (that's what happened with labor and other extreme pain situations).

Make sure you ask for the anti-nausea meds before, during and after. I always tell them (now) that I have issues with nausea after general anesthesia, and they put stuff right into the IV so I didn't have it. Lots of docs will order it as a matter of course, but when they're talking to you ahead of time just tell them that you have a history of nausea.

That's a very good idea !! Probably wouldn't have thought of that until it was too late ...

I did the same thing and got nausea meds in the IV they also put a patch behind my ear that is supposed to last up to two weeks. As for pain I had the morphine as well. I never even pushed the button. The nurse reminded me that I could. But honestly I never needed it. What helped me the most was walking the halls to release the gas pressure. That I did experience.... it was just uncomfortable pressure in the chest area. The more I walked the better I felt. Best Wishes to you!

I have been hearing about that gas pain, and that walking makes it better. Thank you so much for your well wishes :)

And the same to you on your journey !!

I didn't have any real pain after surgery. For about 24 hours it hurt to cough or laugh, but I learned to hold onto my tummy so it didn't hurt so much. And by "hurt" I mean it felt like I had done about 500 sit-ups, not agonizing pain.

Get some GasX strips for the gas. They worked for me.

Wow 500 sit ups that seems like a achey pain not a stabbing me to death pain ... And CHECK to the strips

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
