30mins before and 30after eating? Is this forever' date=' 1yr, 6months? Can someone tell me.[/quote']

If you want to keep your weight off it's the rest of your life. If not you will be able to eat more do to liquefying your food and it will cause you to graze.

This is a lifelong commitment...I thought it would be torture, but It is second nature to me now.

It is really far less difficult to do than it sounds...and that's from someone who used to drink half a gallon of tea, Diet Coke or whatever else was handy, with dinner! LOL

I'm six months out, my wife is four months, and drinking before/after meals is a non-issue for both of us.

Good luck!

Some people are told it pushes the food through quicker and you become hungrier quicker and others are told it's because it takes up too much room in your tiny tummy and there is not much room left for the actual food, and therefore you get hungrier sooner.

Either way, you will get hungrier sooner because of the dense Protein not staying in your stomach and you can eat more often than you should and possibly more calories than you should.

So, yes, I believe this is a long term thing if you want to lose the weight and maintain the loss.

When you chew the food so well before swallowing, you don't need a big gulp of drink to wash it down. I've been doing that and noticing the food actually tastes better when you take time to chew it and I'm not desperate for a drink to wash it down.

I just started " mush " diet a few days ago. I am finding it more difficult than I imagined... Because of the no drinking part.

When I was on "liquid diet" they said I could drink any time.

Now it is food, 45 mins later Water

, 60 mins later Protein shake, 45 mins later Water

Then food , and Repete cycle. I'll get it but haven't had enough time, or awareness to watch the clock.

It's 10:30 at night and I'm working on my water

.

You will learn to make your food moist.... it does become habit.... I was pretty worried I would find this difficult. It really is not as hard as it sounds like it is. I learned to make meats really moist. And to this day do.not eat many carbs/ breads, pastas or crackers so I really do not eat many dry things. Best Wishes to you!

My doc says drink 10 minutes before and then not until 40 minutes afterwards. I just kinda forget to drink and then have to drink a lot later in the day. It's a hassle, but I guess it's life from now on. Hate to order Water at a restaurant and then only take a couple sips before meal comes. If you tell them no drink, they bring water anyway.....

I'm pre-op and have started to create this habit already to help me latter. Two things I notice help me are setting a timer on my phone and secondly if I feel super "dry" pop in a sugar free small breath mint just to get the saliva going...it helps a lot not sure if it's ok to do that but I'm trying to create good habits. Thoughts???

Thanks for everyone's comments. My husband was sleeved on October 26th so we still have a lot of questions. But he id loving his life change. Down by 20lbs in 2 weeks. He didn't do this to look skinny he did this to get off of the meds that were controlling his life and to get rid of his sleeping buddy that he has had for the past two years. CPAP!!!!! Thanks everyone

If you are feeling "dry" you should be drinking Water. I also have no issues with drinking, I do drink before I eat as liquids go through my stomach pretty quick, but I do wait at least 30 minutes after to drink. It becomes such a habit you don't even notice it.

Thanks Amazon for clarifying that... I should have worded that better. only ment that if I feel like I need to wet my mouth not the need of thirst, just to kinda wash the food away...sounds gross lol

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
