Surgery 10-17-13

HW: 295

SW: 272

CW: 251(got down to 249, but then my period happened. I gained 3lbs and have been stuck at 251 for 3 days)

I'm wondering if that's normal during that time for us women. I would suggest weighing in like once a week taunting yourself daily or every few days can be discouraging...hopefully after your monthly visit you will bounce bk...pls update on that I'm a little curious...good luck

Hi. I'm down to 242 now. I'm trying to get into the 230s. I'm hoping it happens for me soon. I'm losing weight slower than I imagined. Though looking at the post I made earlier, I'm glad I'm not in the 250s. :)

I'm having the most difficult time not drinking during meals and waiting for a half hour after. I mean- some meals can be so dry.

That's my biggest demon as well. I usually do take a few sips during the meal. I'm 6 weeks out and have no restrictions on food. I have stopped the Protein Shakes because I just can't stomach them any longer. Hoping I'm getting enough in with my meals.

Surgery date - October 20 Highest Weight - 313 Surgery Weight - 283 Current Weight - 258 Having some abdominal pain this week which I figure is gall stones. Anyone else go through this? Since treatment for gallstones appears to be pain meds, I don't see the point of going to the hospital or doctor. Thoughts?

Did your doctor put you on anything to prevent gallstones? Mine put me on Actigal to help prevent them.

OBnurse, are you back to work yet? I'm having the hardest time. I can barely get 3 glasses of Water in let alone eat some days when it's busy. How are you doing it at work?

Went back to work about 4 weeks post op. I have a water bottle with me all the time. Take a sip whenever I chart something. I also keep string cheese in my lunch pack and beef Jerky. Quick Protein. Some days are better than others but I do a lot of my eating and drinking on the move now. Miss being able to slam a glass of water!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
