Anyone do great with the band and not the sleeve ?

Recommended Posts

I am so grateful to chat to you people here. I went to my lapband doctor after I had it removed and even before complaining about this feeling in my chest after I eat. He keeps saying it's not band related. Reading to all the things you post here I had a thought, maybe I have acid build up daaaaa. I went to see my family doctor and she totally agrees. I am on tectA. Let's see if this subsides.

I was about to post this! I am 15 days out. Lost 125 lbs with band, gained most of it back, now have lost 21 lbs since sleeve surgery (which is great) but kinda nervous because I haven't seen the scale move in nearly a week! It's very hard to eat so little and not see the scale move.

Look up the "three week stall" Many get it. Mine lasted for over 3 weeks at started about 2 1/2 weeks out. Just do what your doing, and your body will start to let go again.

Commonly available OTC PPIs include Prilosec, Prevacid, /or if you get a generic/store brand it might say Omeprazole.

For me, it was cheaper to get a prescription from the surgeon for omeprazole because the "generic" is a very inexpensive co-pay. Anyway, report back if you start feeling better (or not)... might be a few days or it might take a few weeks... but don't give up. The instructions usually say to take it in the morning, but my doc told me that either morning or night is fine - morning if you tend to feel that acid hunger during the day. If your problem is more at night, take it at night.

yes...i'm about 6wks out and at a complete stall!! i feel the same way, eat so little and nothing is happening. last wk i had a couple of glasses of wine and steak meat and lost saw a 3 lb loss in the morning. then about 3 days later the scale went back up 2 lbs. i can't figure this out!! with the band the weight just fell off the 1st couple of months. i'm getting discouraged. idk :(

Measure your loss month by month, try not to sweat the daily/weekly... there is no way you can hang on to the weight forever if you stay on track! If your bmi is low, if you are around your tom, if you are stressed, or eating lots of salty stuff, you know, those can slow loss temporarily. When you get closer to goal, that is something different, and tweaks may have to be made. How fast you lose is up to your body, not you... all you can do is stay on plan!

Also, don't forget that with being a low BMI it will be slower. It's like anytime.. The closer you are to goal the harder it is to lose. Your body is fighting for extra fuel.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
