LoryLosesXS 154 Posted November 4, 2013 Sw 209 Cw 178 Sd: 9/30 So far everything has been good.. I am tolerating almost everything I eat, except a Protein shake I tried that had way too much sugar. Other than that I ate and know to stop when the hickups start. The best way I've found to do a Protein Shake is to use unflavored and either let the fruit you add sweeten it or use stevia. My fav is to make it with unsweetened cocoa and PB2 peanut butter(less calories and fat, but same protein). I sweeten it with either frozen ripe bananas I made or stevia. I can't stand the sweet either.
LoryLosesXS 154 Posted November 4, 2013 I'm under the 250 mark! Yeah for me.....it's been years! Next goal is under 225. I'm thinking 25 lb. increments is the best way to go. Although being under 200 will be a celebration! That's when I'll buy me some new clothes. It's crazy because I'm eating things I like, just not massive amounts like I used to and no simple carbs. Thank you God for this surgery. It is the best thing that's happened to me in a loooong time. :-)

StephaniesCharm 4 Posted November 5, 2013 DOS 283 5'11' 9/19/13 CW 253 48 days post op Down 30 lbs Yay!!!! Morning all A September Sleever here! Have been following forums and getting lots of helpful information and encouragement!!! Love having found this app! Long journey... Started on a surgical weight loss journey back in 2008. I was banded, easy recovery, constant salvating from the moment I came to in recovery, but having quick weight loss results, made the sliming acceptable... Lost a total of 123 pounds, made it to wonderland in 8 months time... Was for the first time in my adult life, feeling the same on the outside as I felt about me on the inside... Self respect and confidence were now a constant part of my personality. My unfilled-Band started to really take away from my quality of life, it continued to tightened up on me, and i'd be continually running to the bathroom to throw up... in late 2009, had to have band removed... Thought I'd be able to continue healthy eating and lifestyle without my band. I wasn't, and over the next 4 years 20 lbs a year re-appeared, Finally, in 2013 my insurance covered the sleeve and I started my surgical weightloss journey again! Brings me to today, my experience with the sleeve has been totally different than my experience with the banding. I love it! No sliming! Still healing and getting to know how best to nurture my new baby stomach, I have this little mantra and visualization of being giving the gift of truly being able to nurture and feed my little stomach lovingly, healthy, and with "all I need"... This journey (for me) is just as much about changing my eating habits as changing my "need" to eat, needing to self comfort. One of my unhealthy patterns was, I found that I used food to quiet my mind... there was a comforting "physical" quieting of my thoughts that happened with the very physical feeling of over eating. And, I used this very unhealthy coping skill, but most importantly, through much seeking (both in therapy and a journey through self help books) I was able to see how as a child, it was a coping skill that has outlived its need... I apologize for such a long post, its just flowing, the sharing of my journey. So, today, I'm still learning how to take care of myself, in healthy ways... "Progress, not perfection". Another of my self comforting thoughts. I've had my share of "learning" on this journey, and find this forum so helpful! Thank you to all of you who take the time to share your journey, both the ups and downs... Y'all have helped me through some very difficult times. At 48 days out, I am learning what I can eat and what I can't handle just yet (according to my food options), and have had to quiet my fears by saying, in 6 to 8 months I should be eating normally, both in food choices and smaller healthier sized plate. I find it awkward to be ordering/eating such small portions of limited foods, while others can choose a variety of textures and seasonings... I tell myself this stage is healing, and is a necessary part of my journey. I think about how good I feel now, and when, I am able to look into the mirror and not need to look away... I can truly look into my eyes, see my person, and smile. God is Good, Life is Good, and I feel very Blessed. Thank you again for all the love... 1 ReadyNewM3 reacted to this
dkandsm 48 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) I had surgery on September 25th, will be 6-weeks post op tomorrow, and am down 37 lbs. (started at 263). I very rarely get over 600 calories per day, although I have a couple of times, and keep my carbs at 20 grams or less per day. It can be challenging at times, but I'm managing. I had blood work done recently and my total cholesterol has gone from 236 to 148!!!! I'm so happy! ETA: Congratulations to you all on your weight loss!!!
