Glorious Release 35 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Just went grocery shopping 4 days post op. Scary. So many behaviors I was in aware of. I was pacing back and forth in the check out line looking for purse fillers. Checked the beverage cooler twice. Wow! Staking food. Nearly passed out. I walked so much. My son had to talk me down. I'm on full liquids why was i still in the store? The mind is powerful. Edited November 2, 2013 by Ladyglory 1 kltklass reacted to this
Beach Lover 1,084 Posted November 2, 2013 It's tough but it will get easier. I am 4 1/2 months post op and I was in a card shop the other day and they had all kinds of wonderful goodies at the check out and it drove me crazy. The thing is though that hadn't happened to me in months but I guess I was mentally weak that day. I didn't get anything but it did drive me nuts!! Hang in there! 1 chefcoll reacted to this
dfwtxmissy 108 Posted November 2, 2013 Oh no...I was at the store getting a few things today. I get to start soft foods. I was able to walk past all the little stands and display areas offering samples...even my favorite, the sushi area. I was so proud. I am 4 weeks post op. 3 Beach Lover, Mel1071 and chefcoll reacted to this

Beach Lover 1,084 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) I have found that most of the foods that we eat are not in the isles but around the edges of the store. I found a summer roll in the sushi section without rice and it was so so good! The carbs were ridiculously small....no worries! Pretty soon you can enjoy some of this! gmanbat 5,889 Posted November 2, 2013 Ladyglory, I know what you're talking about. I've done the same thing also with cigarettes, alcohol, drugs...and other things. Our bodies have changed but our minds need to re-program. You did good. I talk to my feet, "Get me the heck outa here!" 2 SeaGirl and Jerzygurl reacted to this
Beach Lover 1,084 Posted November 2, 2013 Thanks guys. I got nothing but I felt crazy. It's funny but that is exactly how you feel....... a craziness in our thinking takes over and you do have to talk yourself down!! Good for you!!!

kj44 215 Posted November 3, 2013 I'm having trouble with my stinking thinking it's hard when others in the house r constantly eating Carbs and sugar. Or always want jack in the box( which I do not eat). But I find myself munching on a few crackers here. A bite of garlic bread there or a small piece if cobbler or cake. I'm trying to get back off the carbs. Not going so well do far. I don't eat many but right now it seems like if I have any at all I keep wanting them. Also have been stalled got over three weeks again.
EatUmUp 9 Posted November 3, 2013 Wow, great job... I don't think I could be that strong so I send my teenager in with a list while I wait in the car. That way, no temptation!

gomekast 559 Posted November 3, 2013 Wow' date=' great job... I don't think I could be that strong so I send my teenager in with a list while I wait in the car. That way, no temptation![/quote'] I also send the husband in and I stay safely in the van or at home. I did get excited tonight tho, I stopped and got two new yogurt flavors! Looked at my hubby and said..look, food for two days for me! He chuckled. But seriously, has anyone looked at the sugar counts of most Greek yogurts?! So full of sugars.. 1 EatUmUp reacted to this
