My journey started in February 2013 when I attended a seminar by Dr. Brian Gluck in Muskegon, Michigan. Dr. Gluck actually did the seminar himself which showed me exactly much he believes in this tool for weight loss. I was convinced that night that I would be pursuing the surgery and that Dr. Brian Gluck would be doing it. Once approved from the insurance and all the preparations and tests done i was scheduled for surgery. The day of surgery is literally a blank I don't remember anything at all. I woke the next day no pain at all. I had no complications at all and discharged after 2 days. At my first dr appointment five days later I was already down 15 pounds, WOW where did it go....and at my 3 week post op I was down to 269. Currently 4 weeks post op I am at 265 and I seem to be at a stall...I have not been able to get below 265. I don't know what is going on, I am getting 60 + grams of Protein and getting in all my Water...I have started eating soft food now so maybe that is the reason for the slow down. Maybe my body just needs to adjust to real food again instead of liquid. I see my dr in two days so I will ask him then.

Hang in there. I was sleeved on May 1 2013. As of today I am down 106lbs I started at 306. I am how 200lbs. I haven't been this size since I got married in 1991. My mother says she has her old daughter back because I haven't looked like this since 1990. I like looking in the mirror. I saw a pic up at work that was taken the week before my surgery, it was a big reality check. I have had them take a new one because most people would not put the image there to me now. I am happy that I look better but more happy that my health is better. Got rid of 4 pills and on the way to getting rid of 2 more. It has all been worth it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
