So I'm 10 days post op and I have a dilemma. My husband confided with me that he feels that he is holding me back from exercising and helping me lose the weight. He is 100% supportive in fact he wants to get his sleeve next year. I told him that he was not holding me back but today I realized in the gym that he kinda was. I want to walk and run outside but I have a 3 year old who has to come with me where ever I go cause he ( my husband)is always sleeping. I don't want to be cooped up in a gym. How do I gently tell him this?

There is really no easy way but to just say I need you to watch the baby while I go run for however long. You may have to do this at various times until he sees that you're going to go no matter what the time is as long as he is available to do his part. He will expect the same next year. Lol

I tink this is a problem sometimes when one spouse is losing weight. He may be a little depressed, therefore sleep! I am 67 years old and have learned a lot. I stuffed my feelings and my words in my first 20 year marriage, so I would recommend face to face here is what I need from you. Try to set a time of day for you, and that is his time to have fun with the 3 year old at the park or doing something special! Don't let this make you resentful. Have you tried to get him to walk with you and the little one, a family outing? Also, you can exercise with your 3 year old if need be. Get the stroller out and take a little jog with the baby! Best wishes!

3pm to 1:30 am

So he should be up by 10 A.M. unless he stays up later after he gets home from work.

You could talk to him about his own essential exercise program after he is sleeved and how important it is to set aside time. A lifelong exercise commitment increases the chances of success by a great percentage. In the course of the discussion you could bring up the difficulty you are having. The thing is, the conversation started to be about him, men like things that are about them. My wife has made that clear to me. :)

First off, congrats in your sleeve and your commitment to exercising! And to your husband for choosing his health too! Now it's into the details. Ask him to help you. Agree on a time daily that he will be up and watching your child so you can follow your exercise program. And then do it - even if you have to wake him up. When his turn comes you can then either let him have his time or you can all walk as a family. You have to lead at this point. You are setting the example for both of them as to how "healthy" can work for your family.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
