Does anyone have any suggestions for pureed food

Recommended Posts

I've reached the point where I can eat puréed foods. I need suggestions on foods. I'm a big fish eater and I would love some salmon... Hellllllp

I pureed salmon with a little bit of tartar sauce or remoulade. Go to the super market and find where they have all the sauces. Pick a couple that you think would be good on salmon and give them a whirl.

You can buy the little pouches of salmon in the canned meat aisle, too. I found the lemon dill salmon was delicious pureed, I liked the little bit of extra flavor it added.

I played around with the different flavors of tuna as well, like pureeing the thai spice tuna with Sriracha sauce, and the hickory smoked tuna with low calorie BBQ Sauce. I pureed chicken with marinara sauce, then heated it up in the microwave and melted some mozzarella cheese on top for a kind of Italian style chicken. It was good!

I used to get Thai curry at a local restaurant and put it in my blender :)

That was always a treat!

I blended tuna with greek yogurt and pickle juice. It was awesome. Today I made an omelette with that tuna.

tuna omelette (puree) 16.5 grams of protein!

I've been on pureed for 6 days, and I was also dying for fish. I poached a 4oz. salmon steak in caramelized onion, lemon juice, garlic and fresh dill and chives. I cooked it JUST til done, so it would be juicy and slide down easily. I promptly took a small, scrumptious bite, chewing 30x, and after swallowing, it caused me some major discomfort. I was so bummed! I probably had 3 - 4 bites before giving up. The next day, I added some mayo and parmesan cheese. Delicious and it went down a little easier, but it still caused me notable discomfort. By far, it has been the most uncomfortable thing I've eaten. That tells me I'm just not ready for something that bulky yet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
