Why are we advised to not use straws?

They cause you to ingest air which can make you bloated and stretch your sleeve in the long run. I think also it's a liability issue, if your sleeve does stretch they want to make sure they've issued every possible warning.

My doctor doesn't have an issue with straws. It says right in our surgery manual straws are ok.

I started using straws at about a month post-op. No problems.

My surgeon gave us a "goodie" bag which included a pedometer and a water bottle that has a straw built in and a flip up straw that you drink through. If straws were really bad for us I don't think he would have done that.

Go with what your surgeon says. Personally though for me drinking through the straw does take in air and I get uncomfortable. Same with sodas... Too many bubbles and too uncomfortable for me so it is not worth it.

I didn't drink from strawa right away but I do now. Ive learned how to drink with them so that I dont inhale the air lol its wierd but its normal now

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
