Getting Rid of Clothes

Recommended Posts

Did you get rid of/donate clothes that will be too big next summer? I'm having surgery in December, so my 6X summer clothes will be too big next summer (I hope). I'm gathering all my winter/spring clothes that I have in all my fat sizes, but would prefer not to store next summer's. Am I putting the cart before the horse and being too optimistic what I will weigh next summer? Thanks!

As you loose weight, you should regularly try on your clothes and bag up everything that is too big for donation. I do this monthly. It is liberating and validates the decision you made to become healthier - a step at a time. If you try on one thing, or 20, or more...donate what no longer fits.

I can't wait to be post surgery, dropping weight, and getting rid of my fat clothes. 10 years ago I lost lots if weight and got down to size 6. As I've gained weight I've kept my smaller sizes. This week I've been sorting through and organizing everything. I have tons of size 6-8, a lot of size 10-12, some size 14-16, and a just a little size 18 which is what I'm wearing now. It's been fun going through clothes that I had forgotten about. It's hard to believe I once wore such a small size. I won't be keeping my large sizes. Can't wait to get rid of them!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
