7 Weeks Post Op and very very nausiated --- please help!

Recommended Posts

I wake up very nauseous. I go throughout the day nauseous. I'm on Zofrin for the nausea from my primary care doc, and called my sleeve doc to tell about the nausea, and he perscribed Phenergan -- which helps some with the nausea but puts me to sleep.< /p>

Am I alone with this constant nausea? Do other folks deal with this??

Any input VERY appreciated!

Blessings,

WeeWers

Not anymore. It stopped about about week 5 for me (although I had a day like that not too long ago). One thing that helped...I was having a slight allergy issue. I take Mucinex now because I found part of the nausea was from drainage from my sinuses. It was sliding down the back of my throat and into my sleeve, making it feel yucky all the time. Also, Protein Shakes don't sit well with me so I cut them out (nut approved) And lastly, if I miss taking my Proton Pump Inhibitor, I get nausea.

Hope you find the culprit ASAP

I have constant nasuea at 5 ish weeks. I can only get about 24-30 oz Water a day and about 2-4 oz food a day. My Protein is about 15 g daily. I get ill from the shakes and most foods make me froth badly. Its rough. My surgeon said to try thicker Soups for now because the thin drinks like water or broth can cause reflux/frothing in some of us and come up a lot easier. The foods hurt alittle and cause nasuea but stay down better do to the weight. If we do in between it should be easier he says.

There was an earlier post about nausea and I believe the solution was a probiotic and protonix. I will see if I can find it again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
