Hi! I'm in Colorado too. I've been doing a bit of research too. I'm in the Springs, how about you? I found Dr. Smith in Pueblo and I'm going to the seminar on the 20th. He has a great web site at Colorado Lap Band.com. Have you found anything worthwhile? I also found some doctors in Denver, but not sure where I'm going yet either. Let me know if you find anything good. Dr. Smith posts his fees on the web site. I'm new to the post also. Good luck to you, and welcome.

Hi! I just saw his website. Cost is an issue. I am a mother of 3; twins age 8 and a 12 year old. I feel guilty about using the money that we don't have for the surgery (I would have to finance it somehow). However, I am also dying inside. My BMI is 29.7. I really don't want to wait until I have a higher BMI.

You might have difficulty finding a surgeon who will place a band at your BMI, I would definitely call and ask before traveling any great distance to a seminar.

I remembered seeing a thread recently where someone had mentioned a great price at a Denver surgeon, so I went and found it, here's the link, and I wish you the best!:

And here's a WHOLE THREAD dedicated to him :clap2:

Hope that helps!

I Had Lap Band Surgery In Monterrey Mexico On Feb. 23, 2007. The Hospital Was Excellent And The Hospital Staff Was Great. The Hospital Is A Private Hospital. I Can't Say Enough Good Things About Dr. Zapata. He Is So Caring. The Cost For The Surgery, Tranfers To And From The Airport, And 1 Night Stay In The Sheriton Hotel Before Surgery And 1 Night Stay After Surgery Was $6,990.00.:o It Took Me A While To Decide To Go To Mexico But When I Thought About The Cost I Just Could Not Turn It Down. I Have Insurance But It Would Not Cover Weight Loss Surgery. I Live In A Small Town Of About 1200 People. Six Of Us Have Been To Monterrey And I Am Sure There Will Be More!!!!!

If You Think About It Dr.s In Mexico Were Doing This Surgery A Long Time Before It Was Legal To Perform It In The U.s.a.

You Colorado sorts all really ought to check out the web site in my signature block below. My doc is Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, CO. Near Denver as I'm sure you know. He charges $9950 for everything, and then fills for life are $15. And he is an extremely experienced laparoscopic surgeon with over 10,000 procedures. He has also pioneered certain types of laparoscopic surgeries and trained hundreds of other doctors. I went to him and I live in Maryland. If you live in Colorado I believe this is a total no-brainer. You really should check him out.

If you more info about him run a search on this forum for "Kirshenbaum." You'll see he has quite a number of happy patients who post on this forum.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
