So......I know there's alot of ladies on this thread. Do you all want to see Catching Fire as badly as my wife does? She seems obsessed.

Yeah I took a group of teens and tweens on opening night.

The movie was excellent.

I just started Divergent at the insistence of my daughter and sister.

Catching Fire stayed pretty true to the book. The whole time we watched it it all seemed "familiar".

A few things were left out and a few things were played up. But all in all.... Two thumbs up!

The Wool series is great! I'm in trashy fiction mode and reading the Sookie Stackhouse books that the TV series True Blood is based on. I haven't seen the tv shows. I actually read constantly and have read almost 70 books in 2013. A lot of them this year were about weight loss surgery and the sleeve and nutrition. On my list for next year is to finally read the Game of Thrones books and the Wheel of Time books.

True Blood TV series is only worth watching to see Joe Manganiello and Alexander Skarsgard - they are just downright sexy...other than that, stick with the books ;-P

Nearly forgot this one... Anthony Horowitz (wrote Foyle's War and some other v fine adult tv for the BBC) wrote some terrific books for kids and teens (he writes for both preteens and teens in different series), a lot of it sci fi and with strong male and female leads. Check out the "Power of Five" series, and the first book is a ripper, though they're all good IMO. Gripped my son and I for several years!

The last book I read was "Tread Lightly: Form, Footwear, and the Quest for Injury-Free Running"..... A history of the evolution of running shoes. Yes I am that much of a geek.

No, they really aren't.

Hahaha...I like some of them - depends on what exactly they are about - butter likes running so I would imagine that would be interesting for him:)

Love the sookie Stackhouse series and game of thrones! I'm actually getting ready to read the game of thrones books again because I heard the next book is coming out soon (probably just wishful thinking in my part)

I also enjoy the Anita Blake vampire hunter series by laurel Hamilton. Total smut, but they are fast and fun reads!

Like all those (more Kim Harrison than Laurel K. Hamilton fan though). A good teenage series would be the Dragonriders of Pern series by the late Ann McCaffrey. Lived those books!

Omg I love Wheel of time! One of my employees is very active in the forum/gathering of WoT events, organizes their conferences, has set up a charity for it, etc. She got us into it. My husband has read them all, I've read about 7 of them.

Game of thrones, I have to tell you, I read the first one and started the second. Then I realized that I pretty much didn't give a crap if any of those characters lived or died so I decided it was time to read something else :) it just didn't appeal and frankly I didn't find them well written.

Before I got addicted to this forum, I used to read for 3-4 hours a day, so I'd end up reading 2-3 books a week. Right now, I'm reading Allegiant, Amy Tan's new book, and good calories, bad calories.

But I spend too much time in here :(

I also read a ton, and so do both of my kids. Another series of books that we enjoy (and I got my dad to read) was the Drizzt Do'Urden series by R. A. Salvatore.

Impressive .. From enabling to staples to sandwiches to book club. Maybe a new thread titled "Etc" should be started ;)
