The soreness ranges for different people. It may be bad tomorrow as well, be ready and have sme pain meds on hand. My Dr. told me the 3rd day would likely be the worst. Then you should start feeling much better quickly. Coughing is going to hurt, it is moving all the things they poked through, and rearranged. Hold a pillow over your tummy tight against the incisions when you cough---and as much as it hurts, don't try to avoid coughing, it will help your lungs clear out. Did they give you an incentive spirometer, to help you breath deep? If so be sure to use it!!! Especially if you are not coughing deep.

Getting in and out of the bed was the hardest thing for me, that uses a LOT of stomach muscles. I started doing some crunches the other day, and spent another couple of days having a hard time getting up!!!

It will pass hon, and soon you will be up and going! Take your meds, or if you have none, hit the Tylenol.

Hugs,

Kat

Just thought I would let you know we (my daughter & I) felt the same way. We were banded a little over a week ago. I can honestly say it took us longer to heal. We had surgery on Friday and thought we'd go back to school/work on tuesday but there was no way. We needed a few more days so we went back on thursday and it was rough both thursday & friday. Since we have had another weekend to relax this week has been a breeze and sleeping so much better. Dr. C on this forum suggested Alleve for the pain and for any inflamation this help a lot and lasts a long time too. I do know EXACTLY how you feel, since we are just now getting back to normal. As far as sleeping I found it best to sleep on my comfy couch with big pillow behind my back propping me up and leaning a little toward the right (port is on the left) then another pillow under my knees, or to sleep in the recliner because it's basically this same position. I have slept in my bed two nights in a row now. I hope you feel better soon and I hope some of my advice will help you get through this.....

If you have a recliner, it may help you. I slept in my recliner every night for about a week after my surgery.

It gets better fairly quickly. Good luck and let us know how you progress.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
