After healing, do you all consume ONLY caffeine-free Crystal Lite?

Recommended Posts

I've always kind of liked Crystal Lite. I will be sleeved in a couple of weeks and am now studying specifics of eating/drinking and I realize -- though it doesn't address Crystal Lite specifically, much of the advice says to give up caffeine forever. THEN I read, a little caffeine is okay later on, but don't get it from coffee or soda...., etc., etc

Anyway - I realized that a couple of my favorite Crystal Lite flavors have caffeine. Those of you who are pretty-well healed, and if you like Crystal Lite -- do you find caffeinated ones sit okay or do you still avoid them?

Thanks!

I am 11 weeks out and caffeine sits just fine, I even drink about half a cup of coffee twice a week. Crystal Light is fine. I actually dont drink it because i try to stay away from aspertame type sweetners, but I was given crystal light lemonade flavor in the hospital.

I moved on to real coffee with real caffeine 3 months after surgery with my team's blessing. I keep it under 2 cups per day just because coffee is acidic, and that's not great for a tiny stomach. No problems so far!

Caffine is not recommended at first but when you start to heal up you can have whatever kind of caffine you like. I drink a cup of Americano esspresso (sugar free) every morning on my way to work.

my surgeon never restricted caffeine--I got regular black tea (tea bag for hot tea) in the hospital. I didn't drink coffee until after the first few weeks just to give my stomach time to heal, but the surgeon never restricted it. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day and sometimes caffeinated tea. No issues.

I got used to not consuming caffeine. Then I had one of the crystal light energy flavors and I was buzzing! I could only consume half because of the buzz. It is good to know I have a go-to pick me up when I need it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
