Ice cream already? Holy Moly! STAY AWAY! Im 11 weeks out and have yet to try ice cream, it is full of sugar and could make you very sick this early out. Take a moment to re group and think about why you had this surgery, you will make a bad choice here and there but learn from it, and not just becuase it makes you sick. Do you think eating ice cream will keep you thin? Will it help aid you in your weight loss? if the answer is NO...they stay away!

I was sleeved same day as you. While I have not tried anything like ice cream, if I did it would be something like SF vanilla. Full sugar/fat ice cream with nuts in it is begging for trouble. But if you can from here on out, pick another option. I know you didn't go to this extent to keep on the same path and not lose the weight. I am sure there will come a time when you, I , everyone will test their sleeve in one way or another. But not this soon. Please be careful and let yourself heal. Revisit your NUT or doctors post op lists of foods to eat. While most would still be on full liquids, my doctor did tell me I could start on purees. Honestly, I haven't yet. I am not ready. I can handle cream Soup (no chunks) and yogurt. Even had some cream of wheat. Just take it slow and steady...And good luck!!!

It's interesting because I was feeling so good thus far I almost felt invincible where nothing would bother me...this was a nice reality check. By the way, cream of wheat is a great idea I'm going to try that for dinner.

Just curious if your doctor gave you a list of approved foods. It will be very useful at this stage.

Cream of wheat is a winner for me. Takes me 3 hours to eat an entire bowl. ( one prepared package) Make it a little thin, and use skim milk for extra Protein. I like plain with sweeter and pumpkin pie spice for flavor. Hope you find it enjoyable!!

Ask your nut or surgeon about no sugar added fudge pops. My NUT had me on those pretty early out, and they curbed any temptations I may have had :)

As far as full fledged ice cream?! No I wouldn't try yet. I have had some sugar free vanilla ice cream a couple nights...mainly due to hormones. If your NUT clears you for those, you could also try the frozen Greek yogurt. 1/2c. is 4g. of Protein. Not a lot, but better than the ice cream. I can't stand the regular stuff, but the frozen kind isn't too bad.

Best of luck and try hard to stick to your program. Your sleeve will thank you soon enough!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
