Last night I had a cup of Snickers ice cream around 9pm. I woke up at 12am and started spitting up the most fowl tasting battery acid, I have never experienced this in my life. I was actually on the verge of calling 911 I thought my insides were going to come up. Has anyone experienced this?

Yes but not with ice cream....It is pretty horrible if you can't throw it up and it just sits there...Obviously your tummy does not like ice cream...learning as you go I see! :)

Did your doctor tell you it was ok to eat ice cream? If so he must be looking for future revenue by having to re sleeving his clients.

Please young man you did this to change your ways. If you want to succeed you must change!

Sorry if I sound like an mean old lady.

But I care.

Oh then that explains it...For Pete's sake...stay on the program at least until your sleeve heals..That was taking a huge chance..You don't want complications trust me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I just figured when the ice cream melts in your mouth it's like a liquid, but oh man was I wrong.

Ice cream is not considered a liquid in any state...It coats your stomach as it lays there....Neither is pudding or even Jello..Of course others might not agree with the Jello part but that is what my nut told me.....

lesson learned eh...good for you! :)

Protein Shakes are "like" a liquid and they don't kill you. Now is the time to dig down deep and find some inner strength. You didn't have the surgery for nothing did you?

I'm guessing it was the peanut/chocolate/caramel thing! Especially the peanuts... Even though there are just a few, that must have been really rough on your sleeve!

I waited until after week 6 to venture into a little bit of ice cream. And when I say "little bit" I mean about 3-4 small spoonfuls to curb a craving. You just had surgery last week. Just because it's a liquid doesn't mean its okay to consume at such an early stage.

Lets hope that you didn't do any further internal damage.

you shouldn't eat nuts or seeds until at least 4 months out. This is different than a pre-op diet if you "cheat"--it can seriously cause serious and lasting medical issues. Please stick to the liquid diet your doctor or RD gave you. For the first 3 weeks all I had were Clear Liquids, Protein Shakes, hot tea, etc. It was really difficult but my stomach was healing and I knew that wasn't the time to test boundaries. No solid food for 6 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
