For those that have had the surgery, what is the pain comparable to? I've never had surgery and I've only broken a little toe lol I have had two children though, one without meds! (Not by choice) The gas pains I have heard are the worst part, but I'm hoping the gas x strips will help with that.

The gas pain really is the worse. I really don't know what to compare it to because I've never broken a bone besides toes which didn't really hurt to me. I had gotten chewable beano but never even used them. Walking really helped me a lot with the gas pain. Sorry couldn't be more help

This was easier than childbirth. I have two kids. Also had a hysterectomy, and this was easier than that as well.

The pain was more like pressure for me. It felt like a giant gas bubble pressing against the inside of my chest. It eased up quite a bit in the 1st few hours post-op. Walking really makes it ease up.

Everyone experiences pain differently--in my case, I was a little sore where they made my sleeve, and the day of surgery it was a little struggle to get in and out of bed--the next day I was fine......but otherwise absolutely no pain......never used the pain meds they sent me home with.

I'm a klutz.....and have had several surgeries, broken nose, broken wrist, bruised skull.........not sure if that has increased my pain tolerance......but this was definitely easier, less painful than natural child birth.......not to mention less stressful too LOL

A few days after surgery I had a sore arm, like I over used it........it was just gas.........I began to walk as soon as I could in recovery, and the entire stay in the hospital......and apparently it really helped......good luck......and don't worry about the pain

I took my gas x strips as I was headed out the door to walk. It worked immediately. I even passed them out to others at the hospital that were having the same pain. My gas was sharp and painful without it. I would get up through the night a nd walk

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
