Hi, I am new to this site..

I have been looking for an answer all over the internet and I hope you guys can help me. I am 4 weeks post op and for the last 1.5 weeks my weight has fluctuated up and down 2lbs. I didn't think weight gain was possible with this surgery. I called and talked with the medical assistant at the office and she said to keep and eye on it. Weight everyday and if it continues then I need to come in, that this is not normal. I am not having any pain or anything like that, my weight is just STUCK! Has anyone had this? I am sticking to my stage 3 diet not eating to much ect... ect..

Help!!

Total loss so far has been 17.6 lbs

Sounds like a stall to me. I think I've seen every person on this board post about it at least once in their journey! I'm only 3 months out so I'm not the best to offer advice yet, but when I had my little blip I stopped weighing daily and switched to once a week. Definitely helped my head not get so crazy about small fluctuations.

Are you getting in enough Water and Protein?

Search "stall" on here and you'll find a zillion tips and pointers!

Oh....this is definitely a time to stop weighing yourself...You are going to drive yourself crazy...no doubt in my mind that it is Water retention that is still trying to flush out the stuff they gave you before during and after surgery. Your body went through a huge ordeal and it will deal with it as it sees fit..

When you have major surgery which this was your body works to heal and fix what has happened to it...adjust!

When your body feels threatened by weight loss it will stop losing and store fat in your cells for later. Once your body heals and decides it is still being fed it will lose weight again...

Stop weighing yourself every day....that is maddening....Hit the scale with a brick if you have to...Just weigh about once a week or once every 2 weeks or once a month or like me every 2 months or so......

The numbers are not the beginning and end all of this journey..It is for life and it will take time for everything to get back to so called normal.....

I'm at my 3 week stall too! It's normal if you've already lost a lot of weight in the first two weeks. All of the vets say to Just keep following your plan!

Allegedly and according to my Nutritionist, 7-10 day stall is totally normal at the 3-5 week stage. Mine lasted 2.5 weeks. Bounced around .02 and .07 of a kilo repeatedly. Don't freak.. Your break will come..

I did the same thing for about 12 days and by day 13 or 14 I started to lose again. My nutritionist said it is your body shutting down. You body has to re-adjust it's metabolism and skin, muscles etc. need time to shrink etc. It is normal. Then you will start to lose a little slower than you did during the fast and right after surgery. I am 60 which means I lose slower anyway, but I average about a pound or two a week. Just remember that stalls will come ever so often and you have to wait them out. Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
