Recipes for pureed foods

Recommended Posts

I got back from my two week appointment and my doctor says I am ready for puréed foods. He says I can have meats like turkey and chicken as long they are cooked as way the crock pot does.

I had my 2 week appt today too. Best ever recipe someone posted was chicken pureed in blender w lite mayo and a little broth to help puree. Place a few oz in bowl add small amt of Franks red hot wing sauce and a little bit of lite blue cheese dressing. This was soo good.

If you don't have time for the crockpot, it works pretty good to place a couple of pieces of frozen cooked chicken (diced, from a bag) in the microwave with a little bit of broth, wrap SNUGLY with Saran wrap, and nuke for about 1 minute. Holds all of the moisture in.

My favorite puree was refried Beans and chicken breast (run through a food processor). I at that stuff for weeks without getting tired of it.

I got all the ingredients at Walmart. It cost about $4 for 2 days worth of meals (4 - 6 meals in my case). It's very filling and sticks with me.

1 lb of chicken breast.

1 pkg of Taco Bell Taco seasoning.

(I tried other name brand taco mixes and the store brands, Taco Bell tastes the best and is just as cheap. There is a Taco Bell chipolte version as well, but I liked the regular version the best. )

1 can of gebhardt refried Beans w/fat.

(I tried the non-fat version and I like the fat version better. It only has 2grams of fat per serving.)

Salsa or Picante or Taco sauce to taste

1 pkg of your favorite shredded cheese.

I grill the chicken breast and run it through my food processor.

Mix the taco seasoning with about 1/2 cup of Water and mix it thoroughly. I mix it in my Protein shake shaker.< /p>

Toss the chicken into a pot or pan and add the taco seasoning.

Bring it up to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

Mix the chicken and beans in a bowl. Add some salsa if it's too thick for your taste.

Spoon some of the mixture into a bowl and top with cheese and salsa.

LMAO this made me spit out my diet snapple, thanks! i was just thinking this the other day about all the food commercials.

but my go to on puree's was tuna fish. add a little mayo and mash it really well with a fork! it also comes in pouches which were really good for some different flavorings like sweet and spicy and lemon pepper. yummy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
