Hi,

I'm scheduled to be sleeved on December 12th and I can't wait! I was diagnosed with severe Migraines about 2 years ago. My thyroid medication has significantly helped the migraines until recently. I was told in September that my insulin is sky high and I'm pre-diabetic (this is when I decided to have WLS).

My migraines are no longer relieved with prescription Migraine meds or the thyroid meds. Does anyone else have issues with migraines related to obesity or has anyone had less migraines after being sleeved?

Thanks

Kelly

It could definitely be me, but i have more Migraines now. sorry to burt your bubble! i had headaches before, but 2 and a half months later, i still have them. but could be different reasons now, not getting enough liquid in, not eating enough, dehydration, etc?! wish you the best of luck though!

I suffered from constant Migraines and headaches starting in March 2009 until about Fall of 2012. The things that helped me tremendously were:

1) seeing a neurologist who specialized in Migraine diagnosis and treatment;

2) having regular Botox injections by my neurologist as a migraine treatment (not for wrinkles, haha!);

3) having a sleep study (apnea now being treated);

and finally, incorporating deep tissue massage of my shoulders, neck, and head. Yes, my head, too! You can carry A LOT of tension in you shoulders, neck, and the many muscles on your head.

My migraines were already in control by the time I had VSG, but I have only had 1 or 2 since surgery five months ago. That is pretty normal for me now. I didn't experience more migraines/headaches after surgery.

Good luck to you, I know how hard it is to cope with constant migraines!

I had Migraines that would last 4-5 days at a time at least 3 times a month. . Since surgery and weight loss I get about 1 per month and it only last 2 days. Mine is related to my diastolic blood pressure but blood pressure meds make it go too low so I just have to deal with mine. Good Luck!

Kelly! Hoping for good news in your case. Remember we are all different. My Migraines are hormone (low progesterone) related and they are significantly less than before surgery.
