I walked did I over do it?

Recommended Posts

I'm ten days post op yesterday I had a appointment so I caught the bus up but decided to walk home the two locations are right next to each other one medium size city the other small my mom came with me just in case it was about a 33min walk I didn't make home by walking as planned I walked until I fell exhausted my neck & shoulders felt heavy & weak so my mom said let catch the bus I felt bad because we were about a 18mins walk away from home & I really was trying pre op I was able to walk for hours outdoors & do 2hr on treadmills with incline I later went to Google maps to see how many miles I walked & was saddened to see it was only 1.7 miles

My question to members who can remember this post op stage or who are in this post op stage did any of you feel this tired? Did it get better? When did you feel like your old self again? How long did it take?

So I am one week out and mentally I feel good enough to do things, so I got to do them and bam, I'm exhausted! I think it's a matter of nutrition, and not getting in all of the nutrients, plus our bodies systems are burning tons of energy just trying to heal! So when we add walking to this , we get tired! I know it will go away because I see so many people months and years out running marathons and triathlons! I'm with you, feeling it to! Walking is good but pace it until little by little!

I was sleeved on the 14th and I still get tired all the time. I can only get through 20min of a 45 min walking in place work out video. I have done a lot of shopping and window shopping at local malls and outlets. I find this has helped as I love to shop and the motivation to discover new finds kinda takes my mind off of my tiredness. But i usually need to lay down as soon as I get back home.

folks we just had major surgery. It only makes sense that we are still weak. :o) I had my surgery on the 14th. I try to walk a little each day for 10 min. I overdid it yesterday and was worn completely out.

I wasn't in any shape to do much more than the 20 minutes of walking my doc told me to do daily post-op. It wasn't till about the end of month 3 before my strength returned and at month 6, I started feeling my old normal self again.

Thank goodness for this thread. I was sleeved on 10/31 and walked 3 miles on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday, I was so exhausted, I could barely get out of bed. Last night I walked for 10 to 15 min and it didnt affect me too terribly. Think that is what I will do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
