sifford1 27 Posted October 30, 2013 I am one week out and almost every time I take a sip of something's get a sharp chest pain! I have tried all different ways of how to swallow and drink nothing helps! Water is the easiest, so I mostly drink water! I just want to give up drinking all together! Teachamy 1,042 Posted October 30, 2013 Try taking teeny, teeny, tiny sips. Did you try warming up the Water? Or drinking warm herbal tea? I've heard some people say warm water was easier for them. Plus, room temperature or lukewarm water hydrates you faster. I am pre-op, so I have to take it from others that it will get better every day! 1 Arts137 reacted to this
chibabyy 77 Posted October 30, 2013 You can't give up on drinking cos you'll become dehydrated. I used to get those pains too but they will go away. I'm almost 5 months out and I don't drink anything but Water. This too shall come to pass but mention it to your doctor too.

Teachamy 1,042 Posted October 30, 2013 I've read it many times before. My surgeon explained it to me as the "tube" to your pouch spasming, which causes all sorts of wonderful things, discomfort, pain, and nausea. I'm so sorry you're going through this!
