MRSA is nothing to fool around with and I would definitely try the alternate drug and apply for funding. Here in the U.S., MRSA is usually treated with antibiotics for 6 weeks. Has the surgeon discussed the option of replacing the band? Has he cultured the port Fluid to see if the infection has spread?

Hi the surgeon has taken swobs from my stomach when he put the new port in and said that they were ok. But when i had a defill 3 weeks ago the liquid was the yellow that came off. The first time i saw it, I was a bit shocked. Everyone else is clear. The nurse went and got the doc to confirm i was ok. He said I was........ So now have I got it in my stomach or havent I........ So I now have appointment a week tomorrow with surgeon who I feel that needs to fund a new band for me what do u think??????Mrs D

Any MD who sees yellow Fluid coming from a port and says it's OK is a nut. Without a culture and sensitivity, there is no way an MD can know if there is an infection present or not. I definitely agree with the choice to see a new surgeon and replacing your band seems like the best medical decision.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
