3 weeks out. Protien and water

Recommended Posts

I am having a hard time getting in all my Protein and Water. I can get most of my protein in but too full to get the water. I have seen some people say water first? Hmmm. If I drink the water first I won't be able to get most of the protein. I thought the protein should be important. I am drinking Protein Drinks.< /p>

Me too! The only thing I can think to do is set timers from the minute I wake up until I go to sleep based on the suggested eating & drinking schedule I got from my dietitian clinic. Tomorrow will be my first full day of actually following it ( fingers crossed). I can let you know how it goes.

I try to have a Water at my desk but with the food i don't get enough water in. Let me know if that works. I have lost a total of 14 pounds since surgey and 12 on post op. I wonder if I drink more water if the numbers would be different

I'm having trouble too. Water mixed with anything makes me feel sick but so does plain water. It stinks! I'm going to try getting some mio drops to see if that helps at all. Open to suggestions! I make a plan in the morning of what I'm going to drink and when. It helps me stay on track. Hope this helps!

I used to love Water before my sleeve, but now I found out I love ice cold Water. It takes me so long too drink a glass of water now its warm by the time I'm done and it sucks.

Yesterday I had a nestea zero. Does that count as a water? There is pretty much nothing in it. Ideas? I'm hoping it does because its 0 cal and its pretty good tasting.

I do agree though its so hard too get that water in. Its a full time job, but I was tols that before my sleeve.

My nut and drs office says to focus on getting the liquids in first. Part of that total amount can come from shakes...they told me just yesterday that the only way to hit Protein goal is by shakes at this point. So, 24 oz of my daily liquids goal is a shake of some sort. It hits my Protein daily goal plus liquids goal. Calories free beverages count to that daily liquid total as well.

Water was not my friend until day 7 post op. Try different things each day..it changes from day to day what your sleeve can and can not tolerate!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
