I had my surgery July 26th and the past several weeks my energy level has been non-existent in the afternoons. Come 2:00 I'm so tired that I have a hard time staying awake at work. I had a B12 shot when this all started and have not noticed a difference at all. Has anyone else experienced this?

My surgery was June 7th and it took me about 9 weeks to get past the exhaustion. Make sure you are getting all of your Protein in and liquids as well. It takes a long time to heal from this surgery and find a normal place. You might call your doctor and have your blood work done if haven't done so yet. Your Iron level could be low as well as other things. Good luck! :)

I am good about my Protein and taking my Vitamins. You do have a good point. It could be something like my Iron. I go back for a follow up appointment on the 20th and will discuss it with my doc then if I don't end up calling him before then. Thanks!

I had this and then I remembered my doctor said B12 deficiencie is a big deal. Even though I'm taking a supplement I was worried I was not absorbing enough. I went and got a b12 shot and felt way better after. You may want to try that.

Thanks! Getting the B12 shots is something I definitely am going to ask for. I also started getting dizzy when standing up at about the same time I started experiencing the fatigue. Maybe I'm a little dehydrated? I'm going to increase my Water intake and see if that helps at all, too.

Dizzy, lightheaded, fatigue, dark urine, disoriented all of these can be signs of dehydration. B12 shots sound like a good thing as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
