homersmomma 77 Posted October 29, 2013 This is a stupid question I know but do you need a passport to go to Tijuana ?? Some people have been able to cross the border with only a state issued "enhanced" DL and a birth certificate embossed with a raised state seal. I suggest having the passport or passport card as being the best and most efficient way to go.
rredrruby87 27 Posted October 29, 2013 ok thank you
TARPHR 29 Posted October 29, 2013 I would recommend a passport. If something happens medically and you cannot be driven across the border, you cannot fly out of Mexico with just a birth cert. Teri 1 rredrruby87 reacted to this
cindymg 629 Posted October 29, 2013 Since 2007 American citizens have needed a passport to get back into the U.S. Apply today. I needed to renew mine quickly so I paid the expedited fee and it arrived in a week. I think normally it takes 3-4 weeks, but may be longer for a first time passport. atlchick 42 Posted October 30, 2013 You don't need it to get into MX but they did look at ours when we tried to get into the US.
NMJG 1,266 Posted October 30, 2013 Yes, you must have a passport or passport card to travel to Mexico or Canada, if you expect to get back across the border, that is. As Cindy said, the law changed some years ago. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_970.html
Susysleever 265 Posted November 2, 2013 I live in AZ. I would not want to get stuck in TJ. Used to be a drivers license was all you need. No more.
