Energy to exercise post surgery?

Recommended Posts

The good news is I've FINALLY found exercise that I don't dread doing! I bought a 10 session package on Amazon local for 10 Zumba sessions. No one is more surprised than me to find out I really like it! I know going in that exercise is going to be the hardest part for me so I'm trying to find something I don't hate. My question is this. When I finish this class pre-surgery I am totally spent, I've burned through everything I have. Will I be able to exercise at this level with such a reduced level of caloric intake? What are some strategies post-op folks employ to get through a challenging workout? Do you eat right before you exercise? This is something I can't quite wrap my mind around. Thoughts?

Thanks!

How far out are you? I didn't even attempt to exercise for 4 weeks post op. I have had no issues with endurance since that point. At first it was hard, but I have built up over time. I did a five mile bike ride today and six miles yesterday and meet with a trainer tomorrow. It will get easier.

I just ate as normal, don't usually eat before exercise anyway cause I like to push myself without feeling like I'm going to vomit. I went back to exercise at 7 weeks. I started my Kettlebell classes again and at 10 weeks started strength and mobility training with a personal trainer. Now I exercise about 5 times a week. I have noticed that if I'm going to the gym at 14.00 then I won't tend to eat after 12.00. A good two hours!! Good luck with your exercise!
