Another year, cancer free!

Recommended Posts

My day started at 8 AM this morning, with EKGs, pre-testing, blood work, meetings with surgeon, etc. End result, I am approved for surgery on November 20! Added bonus? Had my scans and xrays for my bladder cancer today, all clear!

What a relief!!

Fantastic!

I am a cancer survivor as well, (prostate, diagnosed 2009). I was told dumping the fat helps the odds. So far so good!

My pre-surg diet is high Protein low carb regular food, no eating after midnight day before surgery....and post op is pureed foods before leaving hospital.

That's so awesome!!! I had my 1 year cancer check this morning at 9! I'm going to be stressed for the next week til I go back and hopefully get good news. I think I may be a pint low on blood lol they took 14 tubes today. I go back Monday to get results and then get sleeved on Thursday.

So happy for your good report.

they make you wait a WEEK to get results? I would not survive the wait. I get my scans and xrays and then go to urologist where she's already read the scans!

Yeah I know it's crazy! My WBC is still high as hell so they are running a lot of test and scans. I'm just keep positive and try not to have a mental break down :) I'm sure when I have my pre op blood work done my surgeon will **** when she's see my WBC. It's going to be a fun week around here

No fun. I'm 2.5 years out now and still am a wreck for my scans. I discussed with surgeon what would happen if my scans came back bad. He said the cancer would take priority over the surgery.

I hope it all turns out well for you!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
