Angry and a fiend

Recommended Posts

Im mad as a dang hatter right now and frustrated beyond belief. I don't think I've gotten in a fight with my husband since way before the surgery. Well, today s*** hit the fan awhile ago and I don't even know what to do. Pre surgery I would have smoked like a pack of cigarettes in between oatmeal cream pies (well...you get the picture). I want a cigarette so BAD!! I don't know how to deal with these emotions without a crutch! Im sitting here and angry sobbing mess, and my rock through all of this is as mad at me as I am at him.

End rant

Walk or go to an exercise class. Write down how you are feeling and then destroy what you wrote. Typing an email then deleting the draft without sending it works for me. Do something nice for someone else.

Hope you feel better soon.

Get out of the house and away from the Rock. Give him time to cool off and you go for a walk. I live with my parents and went through this not long ago. I wanted a sno-cone with condensed cream so bad I could have killed for it, but my hormones and emotions were upset and I knew I just had to get out of the house. It was raining. I put on galoshes and grabbed an umbrella and walked out. It wasn't lightning so I felt safe. After a while, I cooled off and went back inside. I drank a Protein Shake and read a book. Take mind off the need of a crutch and just let things cool off. Tempers flare and that is going to happen, but stick to your guns when it comes to THINKING you need a crutch. You don't. Good luck, Char

Are you recently sleeved? If so just know this happens. Everyone's emotions are all over the place. Even your husband has probably been through a lot and had his life upended taking care of you. Hang in there and go give the man a hug.

I've told my husband repeatedly, when we get in a fight, just give me a hug and it all goes away. Maybe that will work for you?

Lord Hun I feel you! I gave up the cigs 3 months before surgery, and yesterday I thought OMG I need one, and I only smoked 2 a day 4 at max, but sometimes need time to get my mind straight ( that was my smoke brakes) I have babies and toddlers ,momma needs a brake, so I'm in the mist of finding what will work for me, I'd say ill just take an extra long bath room trip but you know they are never unaccompanied lol...

Oy, toddler years! I couldn't imagine trying to go through this with toddlers lol They are such a test of patience, and with the surgery its like a double whammy lol

I wish I would have done this surgery back when my son was so young seriously though. He is 11 now, and unfortunately picked up too many unhealthy habits :/ but, I think he'll learn like I me when he sees me losing and being happy.

I was a light smoker myself, but yeah that break was something I felt I desperately needed. I quit back in May (I think part of the reason I've been successful thus far is it was before I even entered my "sleeve program", I truly did if for me, not the surgery), but I still give myself those breaks when I need them. Now I spend my breaks on here, playing a little game, or reading a few minutes instead of inhaling rat poison lol

Stay Strong Dream Big!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
